| Early discussion on the House Floor - 2015 |
If you have watched the opening ceremonies for the House of Representatives you probably have noticed that the audio is turned OFF during the Pledge of Allegiance. Why is this? Asking the Speaker of the House that question would be an excellent phone call to make 503-986-1200
Just a brief follow up on the Extended Background Check Bill - SB941. The legislation passed the House 32-28 with three Democrats voting against it. The Governor says she will sign the bill. You may want to call or email her office and express your concern about this poorly written legislation.
I believe you elect your Representatives and Senators to come to Salem and pass good legislation - SB941 is poorly written, unenforceable and turns those of us who are responsible gun owners into criminals. It is a disgrace to the system and to the State of Oregon and in particular to all of those who vote in our elections.
You can go here: Live Feed of House Session And watch the video of the Floor Session if you wish. And I have included links from some of the Southern Oregon Representatives floor speeches.

There are many other issues this session but I believe that the several floor votes that were taken on SB 941 clearly demonstrate the partisanship we are experiencing this session. Four different proposals were presented on the Floor during debate offering opportunities to improve the end results of SB 941 - all four were rejected on straight party line vote. This was proof that there is no open door for listening or learning on the part of the Majority Party leadership.
Just observing - do you watch the Floor Sessions?
